Saeki no Mino (三野) (佐伯三野)

SAEKI no Mino is a court noble in the Nara Period. His main name is Sukune SAEKI. His name is also written as 美濃 (Mino) instead of 三野.

Brief Personal History

On October 15, 764 or September 12 on the old calendar in the Rebellion of Fujiwara no Nakamaro, Mino worked on the side of Emperor Koken. Mino, who was Shorokuinojo (Senior Sixth Rank, Upper Grade) at that time, destroyed the force of FUJIWARA no Nakamaro after fighting against them at 三尾埼, Takashima County, Omi Province, and was appointed to Jugoinojo (Junior Fifth Rank, Upper Grade). On October 21 or September 18 on the old calendar, FUJIWARA no Nakamaro who had escaped was put to the sword by IWAMURA no Iwatate. In October in the same year, Empress Takano abandoned Emperor Junin and ascended to the throne as Empress shotoku. On March 4, 765 or February 5 on the old calendar, Mino was appointed to Goefu, Five Royal Guard of Konoeheiryosei, Imperial Guard System. On April 8, 766 or February 21 on the old calendar, he was granted 20 towns of Kuden (rice fields given to those who did meritorious deeds for the state) as well as the title of the land for generations. On May 7, 766 or March 20 on the old calendar, he was appointed to Shimotsuke no kami (the governor of Shimotsuke Province) and left the capital for Shimotsuke Province. On October 27, 770 or October 1 on the old calendar, he was assigned to Shogoinoge (Senior Fifth Rank, Lower Grade) by Emperor Konin who ascended to the throne taking over Empress Shotoku who had passed away.
Not long after that, on March 25, 771 or March 1 on the old calendar, he was appointed to Jushiinoge (Junior Forth Rank, Lower Grade) with additional posts of Mutsu no kami (the governor of Mutsu Province) and Commander-in-Chief of the Defense
On November 2, 772 or September 29 on the old calendar, he was appointed to Ukyo no daibu (Master of the Western Capital Offices), but after seven years, he passed away on March 2, 779 or February 6 on the old calendar.
